Trombone Shorty scored a win in DownBeat magazine's 61st Annual Critics Poll (August 2013 issue)for Rising Star: Trombone. This is his first win in this category where he has ranked among the top contenders for the preceding four years. Trombone Shorty is also ranked third in the overall Best Trombone category. And once again he is named among the top picks in the Rising Star: Jazz Artist category - the fifth time since 2009 – and is named, with Orleans Avenue, in the Rising Star: Jazz Group category for the second consecutive year.
