Trombone Shorty has been honored with 8 nominations for the Best of The Beat Awards <http://offbeat.com/best-of-the-beat-awards-january-27-2012/>.  The awards are presented by OffBeat magazine <http://www.offbeat.com>, recognizing the best of New Orleans music.  Trombone Shorty garnered the most award nominations of any artist including Artist of the Year; Album of the Year for For True; Song of the Year for "Do To Me"; Best R&B/Funk Artist; Best R&B/Funk Album for For True; Best Trombonist; Best Trumpeter and Best Music Video for "Do To Me."  Last year the band was honored with awards for 5 of these categories: both Artist (their 3rd) and Album of the Year in addition to Best R&B/Funk Artist (also their 3rd) and R&B/Funk Album as well as Best Trombonist for Trombone Shorty.  He has also received 2 previous awards for Best Trumpeter.

Also nominated are several of the guest artists on For True, including Rebirth Brass Band, Stanton Moore and Ivan Neville.  Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews also wrote the song "AP Touro" for the Rebirth Brass Band's nominated album, Rebirth Of New Orleans.  In addition, Orleans Avenue's Dwayne "Big D" Williams is featured on Papa Grows Funk's nominated album, Needle in the Groove.  Congratulations to all the nominees!
