Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews is featured on five songs on the new Lenny Kravitz album, Black And White America (released August 30, 2011). Troy plays trombone on "Black And White America", "Come On Get It", "Life Ain't Ever Been Better Than It Is Now" (which includes a "Go Shorty" shout out from Lenny), "Dream", and "Push".

In 2005, when he was 19 years old, Trombone Shorty toured the world as a member of Lenny Kravitz's band. Troy has always considered Lenny to be a treasured mentor and their admiration is mutual. Lenny has since said of Troy, "He's a genius player. He's got nothing but personality, he plays his ass off and he's a beautiful human being." Lenny also played on Trombone Shorty's album Backatown and his just released For True (out September 13th). Other featured guests on For True include Jeff Beck, Kid Rock, Ledisi, Warren Haynes, Ivan and Cyril Neville, The Rebirth Brass Band, 5th Ward Weebie and more.
