In the late 1940s, Machito was a pioneer in the fusion of Afro-Cuban music and modern jazz. A decade later, he had honed that formula to perfection and emerged as one of the most succesful and influential of all Latin bandleaders. This 1958 recording, which includes cha-chas, mambos, and sambas, is vintage Machito --- great to listen to, impossible not to dance to.
